Gladding, McBean is the only remaining major manufacturer of ornamental hand-sculptured terra cotta in the United States. Throughout the years over 9,000 orders have been received for custom-made terra cotta products and garden pottery that have become part of the architectural beauty of some of America's most famous buildings.


Gladding, McBean, acquired by Pacific Coast Building Products, Inc. in 1976, produces over 60,000 tons of Architectural Terra Cotta and other clay products annually at its plant in Lincoln, California.

Gladding, McBean has been producing beautiful custom and specialty clay roof tile since the 1890s at our plant in Lincoln, California. We were the first company on the Pacific Coast to produce clay roof tiles and we are one of only three manufacturers in the US that can meet the most stringent freeze/thaw ASTM specifications. Our tile is made for the most demanding customers. Prestigious universities, landmark public and private buildings are just a few of the hundreds of structures graced with custom made clay tile from Gladding, McBean.

Clay roof tiles have been shown to have the lowest life cycle cost of all the major roofing materials. Gladding, McBean roof tiles offer the added advantage of being fire proof and frost proof as well.
