The Palladio Awards Program The Palladio Awards Program is designed to honor outstanding achievement in traditional design. The Program recognizes individual designers and/or design teams whose work enhances the beauty and humane qualities of the built environment through creative interpretation or adaptation of design principles developed through 2,500 years of the Western architectural tradition. Palladio Awards Categories Commercial, Institutional & Public Projects Residential Projects Judging of the Palladio Awards Judging and selection of the Award Winners is done by a panel of distinguished architectural designers selected by the editors of Traditional Building and Period Homes. Judging Criteria The Palladio Awards are named in honor of Andrea Palladio, the Renaissance architect who created modern architecture for his time while using models from the past for inspiration and guidance. The judges will be applying the same criteria that Palladio used in his own work: The projects should meet all the functional needs of contemporary usage while applying lessons learned from previous generations to create beauty in the built environment. Among the factors that the judges will be evaluating are: Refinement and appropriateness of the design; suitability of design in relation to the program and the project's context; appropriate selection and use of materials, quality of construction and craftsmanship and overall design excellence. Eligibility Who's Eligible: Architects, Interior Designers, Landscape Architects, Custom Builders, Developers and other design and building professionals are eligible to submit entries. Submissions can be from an individual or on behalf of a design team. What's Eligible: The judges will consider completed projects in any of the 11 categories specified above. For the 2012 Palladio Awards, projects must be completed between November 2009 and November 2011. The project can be a complete building, landscape, streetscape, etc. The project can also be a significant sub-unit of a larger project (e.g., an interior) where the applicant had control over the entire design and/or execution of the sub-unit.
