Hord Architects, a 49-year-old firm based in Memphis, TN, boasts a portfolio of more than 100 religious buildings in 10 states, ranging from the design of a classically styled campus in Memphis and a Georgian church in Maryland to the renovation of a movie palace for a Chinese congregation in New York. RECENT PROJECTS
Restoration: Two Centuries of History
After a two-and-a-half-year restoration led by John G. Waite Architects of Albany, NY, Benjamin Latrobe's 200-year-old Baltimore Basilica, the first Catholic cathedral in the U.S. and a symbol of religious freedom, has been faithfully restored.

New Construction: Burgeoning Faith
Columbus, OH-based Meleca Architecture's design of a new 14,500-sq.ft. worship hall for the Church of St. Edward the Confessor in nearby Granville incorporates the existing 3,000-sq.ft. church into a new complex that accommodates the entire congregation.

Restoration: Spiritual Renewal
Under the direction of Beyer Blinder Belle Architects & Planners of New York, NY, and Washington, DC, the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Sacramento, CA, has been restored and renovated to meet seismic and ADA standards.

Adaptive Reuse: Righteous Reuse
Thanks to indie singer/songwriter Ani DiFranco and Flynn Battaglia Architects of Buffalo, NY, an 1870s Methodist church in Buffalo that was slated for demolition in the 1990s has been adapted for use as a performing arts center.

Restoration: Saving A Synagogue
The Eldridge Street Synagogue, a hybrid Romanesque and Gothic structure built in 1887 on Manhattan's Lower East Side, has been restored to its original majesty by Walter Sedovic Architects of Irvington-on-Hudson, NY.
